Have you heard the story of Abraham's honoured guests? 24 When they came to him, they said: “Peace”; he said: “Peace also be to you; (you seem to be) a group of strangers.” 25 Then he turned to his household, so brought out a roasted calf [as the property of Ibrahim (Abraham) was mainly cows]. 26 He set it before them, saying: 'Will you not eat' 27 (When they did not eat), He conceived a fear of them. They said, "Fear not," and they gave him glad tidings of a son endowed with knowledge. 28 His wife came out lamenting, striking her forehead, and said: "I, am old and barren woman?" 29 They said: Even so saith thy Lord. Lo! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "Messengers, what is your task?" 31 They said, "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin;- 32 So as to let loose clods of clay on them 33 Sent forth from your Lord for the extravagant. 34 Thus We brought forth from therein who were believers. 35 – and We did not find there any, apart from a single house of Muslims – 36 And We left behind therein a portent for those who fear a painful doom. 37 As (there was) in Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 But Pharaoh turned away, showing arrogance on account of his power, and said (about Moses): “He is either a sorcerer or a madman.” 39 So We seized him and his hosts and hurled them into the sea and he was blamable. 40 And in the 'Ad (people) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind: 41 It left out nothing in its path, but which it split up into fragments. 42 And in Thamud, when it was said to them, "Enjoy yourselves for a time." 43 But they revolted against the commandment of their Lord, so the rumbling overtook them while they saw. 44 they could neither stand up straight, nor were they helped. 45 The people of Noah who lived before them were also evil doing people. 46
