Have you heard the story of the honorable guests of Abraham? 24 When they came to him saying, "Peace be with you," he replied to their greeting in the same manner and said to himself, "These are a strange people". 25 Then he went back to his family and brought a fat roasted calf 26 So he brought it near them. He said: What! will you not eat? 27 So he conceived in his mind a fear on account of them. They said: Fear not. And they gave him the good news of a boy possessing knowledge. 28 Thereupon his wife approached [the guests] with a loud cry, and struck her face [in astonishment] and exclaimed: "A barren old woman [like me]!" 29 They said: even so saith thine Lord. Verily He! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ 'Messengers' said he (Abraham), 'what is your errand' 31 They said: Surely we are sent to a guilty people, 32 that we may unleash a shower of clay-stones 33 “That are kept marked, with your Lord, for the transgressors.” 34 We saved all the faithful in the town. 35 And We found not within them other than a [single] house of Muslims. 36 and We left therein a sign for those who fear a painful punishment. 37 There is also a Sign for you in the story of Moses when We sent him with a clear authority to Pharaoh. 38 But he turned away with his forces and said: A magician or a mad man. 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and We cast them into the sea, and he blameworthy. 40 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Ad, when We let loose upon them an ominous wind 41 that left nothing that it came upon without reducing it to rubble. 42 And in the tribe of Thamud when it was told to them, “Enjoy for a while.” 43 But in their pride they turn away from the commandment of their Lord and the thunderbolt struck them whilst they were looking; 44 They were unable to stand up, nor were they helped. 45 And the folk of Noah aforetime. Lo! they were licentious folk. 46
