Has the story of Abraham's honoured guests come to you? 24 When they came to him and said, “Peace”; he answered, “Peace”; and thought, “These people are not familiar.” 25 Then he went apart unto his housefolk so that they brought a fatted calf; 26 and placed it before them, saying, "Will you not eat?" 27 And he felt from them apprehension. They said, "Fear not," and gave him good tidings of a learned boy. 28 Then his wife came forward, making moan, and smote her face, and cried: A barren old woman! 29 They said, "Even so has thy Lord spoken: and He is full of Wisdom and Knowledge." 30 ۞ He said: "What is then your business, O messengers?" 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people 32 to bring down upon them showers of marked lumps of clayy. 33 which are marked by your Lord for the punishment of those guilty of excesses." 34 We saved the believers among them, 35 But We did not find therein save a (single) house of those who submitted (the Muslims). 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the afflictive torment. 37 As (there was) in Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] turned away (from Belief in might) along with his hosts, and said: "A sorcerer, or a madman." 39 Then We seized him and his army and cast them all into the sea: he himself [Pharaoh] was to blame. 40 And in 'A-ad also was a lesson, when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 It left out nothing in its path, but which it split up into fragments. 42 And also in Thamood, when it was said to them, 'Take your enjoyment for a while!' 43 They transgressed against the command of their Lord. So a blast of sound struck them and they were unable to do anything but stare. 44 and they were not able to stand upright, and were not helped. 45 And before them the nation of Noah, indeed they were a debauched nation. 46
