Hath the story of Abraham's honoured guests reached thee (O Muhammad)? 24 When they came to him, they said: “Peace”; he said: “Peace also be to you; (you seem to be) a group of strangers.” 25 So he turned to his household and brought a fattened calf. 26 And he set it before them, and said: wherefore eat ye not? 27 And he felt from them apprehension. They said, "Fear not," and gave him good tidings of a learned boy. 28 Then his wife came forward, crying and beating her brow. She said, "I am surely a barren, old woman." 29 They said: “So has your Lord said (that you shall have a boy). Surely He is Most Wise, All-Knowing.” 30 ۞ [Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?" 31 They said: Surely we are sent to a guilty people, 32 to let loose upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement, 33 Marked by your Lord for the Musrifun (polytheists, criminals, sinners those who trespass Allah's set limits in evil-doings by committing great sins). 34 And in the course of time We brought out [of Lot 's city] such [few] believers as were there: 35 – and We did not find there any, apart from a single house of Muslims – 36 We left a sign in this for those who fear the grievous punishment, 37 And in Moses (too, there is a portent) when We sent him unto Pharaoh with clear warrant, 38 But he turned away with his forces and said: A magician or a mad man. 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and cast them into the sea. He became an object of much blame. 40 And in Aad. We let loose on them a withering wind 41 It spared naught that it reached, but made it (all) as dust. 42 And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" 43 But they rebelled against their Lord's decree, and so the thunderbolt overtook them even while they gazed; 44 for they were unable even to rise, and could not defend themselves. 45 And [We destroyed] the people of Noah before; indeed, they were a people defiantly disobedient. 46
