Have you heard the story of Abraham's honoured guests? 24 When they came to him, they said: “Peace”; he said: “Peace also be to you; (you seem to be) a group of strangers.” 25 He went quietly to his wife and returned to his guests with a fat, roasted calf. 26 So he brought it near them. He said: What! will you not eat? 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said: Fear not! and gave him tidings of (the birth of) a wise son. 28 His wife came out lamenting, striking her forehead, and said: "I, am old and barren woman?" 29 They answered: "Thus has thy Sustainer decreed; and verily, He alone is truly wise, all-knowing!" 30 ۞ 'Messengers' said he (Abraham), 'what is your errand' 31 They answered: "Behold, we have been sent unto a people lost in sin, 32 To send down upon them stones of baked clay. 33 Marked, from before thy Lord, for the extravagant. 34 So We removed the people who had faith, from that town. 35 We found in it only one household of true believers -- 36 And We have left there a sign (i.e. the place of the Dead Sea, well-known in Palestine) for those who fear the painful torment. 37 And in Moses (too, there is a portent) when We sent him unto Pharaoh with clear warrant, 38 But (Pharaoh) turned back with his Chiefs, and said, "A sorcerer, or one possessed!" 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and cast them into the sea. He became an object of much blame. 40 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Ad, when We let loose upon them an ominous wind 41 that left nothing it came upon, except that it was ashes. 42 And in Thamud, when We said to them: "Enjoy yourselves for a while;" 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord, so the Sa'iqah overtook them while they were looking. 44 So they were neither able to stand up, nor were they able to take revenge. 45 And [We destroyed] the people of Noah before; indeed, they were a people defiantly disobedient. 46
