Has the story reached you, of the honoured guests [three angels; Jibrael (Gabriel) along with another two] of Ibrahim (Abraham)? 24 Behold, they entered his presence, and said: "Peace!" He said, "Peace!" (and thought, "These seem) unusual people." 25 So he hurried to the house and brought a fatted calf, 26 And placed it near them; he said, "Will you not eat?" 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said, 'Be not afraid!' And they gave him good tidings of a cunning boy. 28 Then his wife came forward with a loud voice, she smote her face, and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 They said: Thus says your Lord: Surely He is the Wise, the Knowing. 30 ۞ [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Then for what purpose you have come, O Messengers?" 31 They said: verily we are sent unto a people, guilty. 32 That we may send down upon them stone of clay, 33 Sent forth from your Lord for the extravagant. 34 So We removed the people who had faith, from that town. 35 But We did not find therein save a (single) house of those who submitted (the Muslims). 36 And so We left therein a message for those who fear the grievous suffering [which awaits all evildoers]. 37 And in Musa also was a lesson, when We sent him unto Fir'awn with authority manifest. 38 But he turned away with his forces and said: A magician or a mad man. 39 So We seized him and his hosts and cast them into the sea. Indeed, he was blameworthy. 40 And in 'A-ad also was a lesson, when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 that left nothing it came upon, but made it as stuff decayed. 42 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Thamud. They were told: “Enjoy yourselves for a while.” 43 after they had turned with disdain from their Sustainer's commandment - whereupon the thunderbolt of punishment overtook them while they were [helplessly] looking on: 44 And neither stand up nor defend themselves. 45 And before them the nation of Noah, indeed they were a debauched nation. 46
