The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount; 1 By the book inscribed. 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 By the roof elevated. 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether). 10 Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 And some of them draw near to others, questioning. 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
