The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Mount Sinai, 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 on unrolled parchment, 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 The roof raised high, 5 And the swollen sea 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 “This is the fire, which you used to deny!” 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). 23 ۞ And they will be waited upon by [immortal] youths, [as if they were children] of their own, [as pure] as if they were pearls hidden in their shells. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
