The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER Mount Sinai! 1 and the Book inscribed 2 on fine parchment; 3 By the much-frequented Fane; 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 and the sea swarming, 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. 13 “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 "Verily, We used to invoke Him (Alone and none else) before. Verily, He is Al-Barr (the Most Subtle, Kind, Courteous, and Generous), the Most Merciful." 28
