The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 By the book inscribed. 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 And the lofty roof. 5 And the swollen sea 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- 11 those who are in plunging, playing. 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 and they will be told, "This is the fire which you called a lie. 14 Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
