The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 By the roof elevated. 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 none can avert that. 8 (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, 9 And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” 14 Is it magic or do you not still see? 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire. 18 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 And some of them draw near to others, questioning. 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 and so God has graced us with His favour, and has warded off from us all suffering through the scorching winds [of frustration]. 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
