The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the mount 1 And by the Book Inscribed. 2 On an open record. 3 By the House Frequented. 4 And the elevated canopy 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 Of it there is no averter. 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
