The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the mount. 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 In parchment spread open 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 and the uplifted roof 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] 13 (it will be said to them): 'This is the Fire which you belied! 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Endure it [now]! But [whether you] bear yourselves with patience or without patience, it will be the same to you: you are but being requited for what you were wont to do." 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. 20 We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
