The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount Sinai, 1 and by the Scripture penned 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 and the sea swarming, 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 and the mountains shudder and shake. 10 Then woe that Day to the beliers; 11 such as play at plunging, 12 The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 "Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done." 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
