The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount, 1 And by the Book Inscribed. 2 In a Scroll unfolded; 3 And the House frequented, 4 And the elevated canopy 5 And the swollen sea 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 and the mountains shudder and shake. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 Those who sport entering into vain discourses. 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. 18 Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working. 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
