The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount, 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 The roof raised high, 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. 7 none can avert that. 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 “So is this magic, or are you unable to see?” 15 Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. 20 And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
