The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 on fine parchment; 3 by the much-frequented House, 4 And the roof exalted, 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
