The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the Mountain, 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 on fine parchment; 3 by the House inhabited 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 By the sea overflowing. 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether). 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 “So is this magic, or are you unable to see?” 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. 20 We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
