So exhort (them, O Prophet), for by your Lord's Grace, you are neither a soothsayer nor a madman. 29 Do they say, "He is only a poet and we are waiting to see him die!?" 30 Say: 'Wait if you will; I shall be waiting with you' 31 Is this what their senses tell them, or are they a rebellious people? 32 Or do they say, 'He has invented it?' Nay, but they do not believe. 33 (If they are truthful in this), then let them produce a discourse of similar splendour. 34 Or were they created without there being anything, or are they the creators? 35 [And] have they created the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they have no certainty of anything! 36 Or are thy Lord's treasuries in their keeping? Or are they the registrars? 37 Or do they have a ladder whereon they can climb and attempt to listen (to what is transpiring in the Higher Realm)? Then, let any of them who has listened to it produce a clear proof of it. 38 Has (God) daughters and they sons? 39 Or do you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) ask any fee from them, so they are burdened with the penalty? 40 Or [do they think] that the hidden reality [of all that exists] is almost within their grasp, so that [in time] they can write it down? 41 Or, do they desire to outwit? The unbelievers are the outwitted. 42 Or do they have a God besides Allah? Purity is to Allah from their ascribing of partners to Him. 43 AND YET, if they [who refuse to see the truth] were to see part of the sky falling down, they would [only] say: "[It is but] a mass of clouds!" 44 So leave them alone until they face the day when they will be struck dead from terror 45 when their stratagem shall be of no avail to them, nor shall they be succoured. 46 Surely there are other torments besides this for those who are wicked, though most of them do not know. 47 So wait patiently (O Muhammad SAW) for the Decision of your Lord, for verily, you are under Our Eyes, and glorify the Praises of your Lord when you get up from sleep. 48 and proclaim the praise of thy Lord in the night, and at the declining of the stars. 49
