Therefore proclaim thou the praises (of thy Lord): for by the Grace of thy Lord, thou art no (vulgar) soothsayer, nor art thou one possessed. 29 Or do they say:- "A Poet! we await for him some calamity (hatched) by Time!" 30 Say: Wait, for surely I too with you am of those who wait. 31 Is it their minds that bid them [to take] this [attitude] - or are they [simply] people filled with overweening arrogance? 32 Or do they say, "He has invented it himself"? Indeed, they are not willing to believe. 33 Then let them produce speech the like thereof, if they are truthful. 34 Were they created of nothing, or were they themselves the creators? 35 Have they created the heavens and the earth? In fact, they have no strong faith. 36 Or are thy Lord's treasuries in their keeping? Or are they the registrars? 37 Or do they have any stairs, climbing upon which they eavesdrop? So their eavesdropper should bring some clear proof! 38 Or, [if you believe in God, how can you believe that] He has [chosen to have] daughters, whereas you yourselves would have [only] sons? 39 Or askest thou (Muhammad) a fee from them so that they are plunged in debt? 40 Is with them the Unseen, and they write it down! 41 Or are they contriving a stratagem against you? If so, that stratagem will rebound against the unbelievers. 42 Or, do they have a god, other than Allah? Exaltations to Allah above that which they associate! 43 Were they to see a piece of the sky falling (on them), they would (only) say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!" 44 Therefore leave them, until they confront their day, in which they will be stunned. 45 Their deception will not avail them in the least on that day, nor will they be helped. 46 Surely a chastisement awaits the wrong-doers even before the coming of that Day; but most of them do not know. 47 Be patient, then, (O Prophet), until the judgement of your Lord comes. For surely you are before Our eyes. And celebrate the praise of your Lord when you rise, 48 And in the night-time also hymn His praise, and at the setting of the stars. 49
