Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), enlighten, for by the munificence of your Lord, you are neither a soothsayer nor a madman. 29 Or do they say: A poet, we wait for him the evil accidents of time. 30 say [to them], "Wait then: I too am waiting along with you!" -- 31 Nay! do their understandings bid them this? Or are they an inordinate people? 32 Or do they say: "He has fabricated it?" In fact, they will never believe. 33 Let them produce a discourse like it if they are true in their claim. 34 Or, were they created out of nothing? Or, were they their own creators? 35 Created they the heavens and the earth! Aye! they will not be convinced. 36 Or have they the treasures of your Lord with them? Or have they been set in absolute authority? 37 Or have they a ladder, by which they can (climb up to heaven and) listen (to its secrets)? Then let (such a) listener of theirs produce a manifest proof. 38 What! The daughters for Him, and the sons for you? 39 Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down? 40 Or is it that they have access to (the Truths in) the realm beyond sense-perception which they are writing down? 41 Or do they want to entrap [thee in contradictions]? But they who are bent on denying the truth - it is they who are truly entrapped! 42 Or have they an ilah (a god) other than Allah? Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partners (to Him) 43 And if they were to see a fragment from the sky falling, they would say, "[It is merely] clouds heaped up." 44 Leave them then till they meet that day of theirs wherein they shall be made to swoon (with terror): 45 The Day when their plotting shall not avail them at all nor will they be helped (i.e. they will receive their torment in Hell). 46 Surely there are other torments besides this for those who are wicked, though most of them do not know. 47 And wait patiently for the judgment of your Lord, for surely you are before Our eyes, and sing the praise of your Lord when you rise; 48 and exalt Him in the night and at the declining of the stars. 49
