Therefor warn (men, O Muhammad). By the grace of Allah thou art neither soothsayer nor madman. 29 Do they say: "He is a poet for whom we expect an adverse turn of fortune?" 30 say [to them], "Wait then: I too am waiting along with you!" -- 31 Does their reason tell them to say this or is it because they are a rebellious people? 32 What! They say, “He has invented the Qur'an”? Rather they do not have faith. 33 (If they are truthful in this), then let them produce a discourse of similar splendour. 34 [Or do they deny the existence of God?] Have they themselves been created without anything [that might have caused their creation]? or were they, perchance, their own creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, they have no firm belief. 36 [How could they?] Are thy Sustainer's treasures with them? Or are they in charge [of destiny]? 37 Or do they have any stairs, climbing upon which they eavesdrop? So their eavesdropper should bring some clear proof! 38 Do the daughters belong to Him and the sons to you? 39 Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down? 40 Or is it that they have access to (the Truths in) the realm beyond sense-perception which they are writing down? 41 Seek they to lay a plot? Then those who disbelieve it is they who shall be plotted against. 42 Or have they a god other than Allah? Glory be to Allah from what they set up (with Him). 43 And if they should see a fragment of the heaven falling down, they would say: it is only clouds piled up. 44 So leave them alone till they meet their Day, in which they will sink into a fainting (with horror). 45 and when their evil plans will be of no benefit to them nor will they be helped. 46 And verily for those who do wrong there is a torment before that; but most of them know not. 47 Await the judgement of your Lord, for you are always before Our eyes, and glorify your Lord with praises when you rise, 48 And in the night-time also hymn His praise, and at the setting of the stars. 49
