Therefore remind! by thy Lord's blessing thou art not a soothsayer neither possessed. 29 Or do they say: 'He is a poet, we are waiting for some misfortune to befall him' 30 Say: 'Wait if you will; I shall be waiting with you' 31 Or do their minds command them to [say] this, or are they a transgressing people? 32 What! They say, “He has invented the Qur'an”? Rather they do not have faith. 33 Let them produce a discourse like it if they are true in their claim. 34 Or were they created by nothing, or were they the creators [of themselves]? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, they have no firm belief. 36 Or, are the treasures of your Lord in their keeping? Or, are they the controllers? 37 Or have they any stairway (unto heaven) by means of which they overhear (decrees). Then let their listener produce some warrant manifest! 38 Does God have daughters while you have sons? 39 Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down? 40 Or that the Ghaib (unseen) is with them, and they write it down? 41 Or do they desire a war? But those who disbelieve shall be the vanquished ones in war. 42 Or have they a god other than Allah? Exalted is Allah far above the things they associate with Him! 43 And if they were to see a piece of the heaven falling down, they would say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!" 44 So leave them alone until they face the day when they will be struck dead from terror 45 A Day whereon their plotting will avail them not at all, nor will they be succoured. 46 And surely those who are unjust shall have a punishment besides that (in the world), but most of them do not know. 47 And so, await in patience thy Sustainer's judgment, for thou art well within Our sight. And extol thy Sustainer's limitless glory and praise whenever thou risest up, 48 And in the night, give Him glory too, and at the setting of the stars. 49
