Therefor warn (men, O Muhammad). By the grace of Allah thou art neither soothsayer nor madman. 29 Or they allege, “He is a poet – we await a calamity of the times to befall him.” 30 Say: 'Await! I shall be awaiting with you.' 31 Do their minds prompt them to say such things, or are they a people immersed in transgression?” 32 Or do they say, 'He has invented it?' Nay, but they do not believe. 33 Let them produce a phrase like it, if what they say is true! 34 Have they been created from nothing or are they themselves their own creators? 35 [And] have they created the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they have no certainty of anything! 36 Or are the Treasures of thy Lord with them, or are they the managers (of affairs)? 37 Do they have a ladder (by which they can climb up to the heavens) and listen (to the angels) and come back to the rest of the people with clear authority? 38 Or has He daughters while you have sons? 39 Or do you ask them for a reward, so that they are over-burdened by debt? 40 Or do they have knowledge of the Unknown which they write down? 41 Or are they planning a conspiracy? So the conspiracy will befall only upon the disbelievers. 42 Or, do they have a god, other than Allah? Exaltations to Allah above that which they associate! 43 And if they were to see a fragment of the heaven falling, they would say: A heap of clouds. 44 Then leave them, till they encounter their day wherein they shall be thunderstruck, 45 The Day when their guile shall not relieve them a thing, and they shall not be helped. 46 And surely those who are unjust shall have a punishment besides that (in the world), but most of them do not know. 47 So wait patiently (O Muhammad) for thy Lord's decree, for surely thou art in Our sight; and hymn the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest, 48 And in the night time, also glorify His Praises, and at the setting of the stars. 49
