EXHORT, then, [O Prophet, all men:] for, by thy Sustainer's grace, thou art neither a soothsayer nor a madman. 29 Or do they say: "[He is but] a poet - let us wait what time will do unto him"? 30 Say (unto them): Except (your fill)! Lo! I am with you among the expectant. 31 Nay! do their understandings bid them this? Or are they an inordinate people? 32 Or say they: He hath invented it? Nay, but they will not believe! 33 So let them bring a discourse like it, if they are truthful 34 [Or do they deny the existence of God?] Have they themselves been created without anything [that might have caused their creation]? or were they, perchance, their own creators? 35 Created they the heavens and the earth! Aye! they will not be convinced. 36 Or do they have the treasures of your Lord, or are they the authority? 37 Or have they a ladder whereon they listen? Then let any of them that has listened bring a clear authority. 38 Or does Allah have daughters whereas you have sons? 39 Or do you ask them for a reward, so that they are over-burdened by debt? 40 Or is the Unseen in their keeping, and so they are writing it down? 41 Or are they planning a conspiracy? So the conspiracy will befall only upon the disbelievers. 42 Or have they a deity other than Allah? Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him. 43 Even if they saw lumps falling from heaven, they would say, 'A massed cloud!' 44 So, leave them until they face their day (of doom) when they will be stunned. 45 A day in which their guile will naught avail them, nor will they be helped. 46 For the harmdoers there is indeed, a punishment before that, but most of them do not know. 47 And be patient, [O Muhammad], for the decision of your Lord, for indeed, you are in Our eyes. And exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord when you arise. 48 and glorify Him after the setting of the stars. 49
