The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By oath of the beloved shining star Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him), when he returned from the Ascent. 1 your companion is neither astray, neither errs, 2 Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It is but a revelation revealed. 4 something that a very mighty one has imparted to him: 5 One strong of make. Then he stood straight. 6 And he is in the highest part of the horizon. 7 Then he drew near and hung above suspended, 8 until he was as close to him as the distance of two bows, or even less. 9 so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). 10 The heart did not lie [about] what it saw. 11 Will you then dispute with him as to what he saw? 12 He saw Him indeed another time 13 at the Lote Tree (Sidrat tree) of the ending 14 Near which is the garden, the place to be resorted to. 15 When the tree was covered with a covering, 16 His eye did not waver, nor did it stray, 17 Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). 18 HAVE YOU, then, ever considered [what you are worshipping in] Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, 19 And Manat the other third? 20 What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? 21 This is certainly an unjust apportioning. 22 These [allegedly divine beings] are nothing but empty names which you have invented - you and your forefathers - [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. They [who worship them] follow nothing but surmise and their own wishful thinking - although right guidance has now indeed come unto them from their Sustainer. 23 Or shall man have what he coveteth? 24 Rather, to Allah belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 25
