The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of the beloved shining star Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him), when he returned from the Ascent. 1 Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. 2 Neither does he speak of his own will. 3 Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, 4 One of mighty powers hath taught it him. 5 One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form 6 While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon. 7 Then he approached and came closer, 8 until he was two bows' length away, or nearer. 9 He revealed to God's servant whatever he wanted. 10 The heart did not lie [about] what it saw. 11 What! do you then dispute with him as to what he saw? 12 And he certainly saw him in another descent 13 by the Lote-Tree of the Boundary 14 Near it is the Garden of Abode. 15 When that which covers covered the lote-tree; 16 his eyes did not swerve, nor did they stray 17 He certainly saw the greatest (signs) of the existence of his Lord. 18 (Among the idols) have you considered allat and al'uzza, 19 And Manat, the other third (of the pagan deities)? 20 Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? 21 That indeed is a division most unfair! 22 They are naught but names yourselves have named, and your fathers; God has sent down no authority touching them. They follow only surmise, and what the souls desire; and yet guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 And to God belongs the First and the Last. 25
