The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Star when it goes down,- 1 Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled. 2 And he does not say anything by his own desire. 3 It is no less than inspiration sent down to him: 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 One vigorous; and he grew clear to view 6 the strong one who appeared on the uppermost horizon. 7 then he drew near, and became close 8 And was at a distance of but two bow-lengths or (even) nearer; 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 The [servant's] heart did not give the lie to what he saw: 11 What, will you dispute with him about what he sees! 12 And indeed he (Muhammad SAW) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] at a second descent (i.e. another time). 13 to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) 14 Near it is the Paradise of Abode. 15 When the lote-tree was being enveloped, by whatever around it. 16 The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]. 17 For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest! 18 Have you ever thought about al-Lat and al-Uzza, 19 and your third idol al-Manat (whom you considered as God's daughters)? 20 What, have you males, and He females! 21 that, lo and behold, is an unfair division! 22 They are naught but names yourselves have named, and your fathers; God has sent down no authority touching them. They follow only surmise, and what the souls desire; and yet guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after? 24 But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong. 25
