The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the star when it descends, 1 your companion is neither astray, neither errs, 2 He does not speak out of his own desires. 3 It is naught but revelation that is revealed, 4 Taught to him by one intense in strength - 5 by the great mighty one (Gabriel), 6 While he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 and then drew near, and came close, 8 And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw. 11 What, will you dispute with him about what he sees! 12 And certainly he saw him descend a second time: 13 By the Lote-tree beyond which none can pass, 14 Near it is the Paradise of Abode. 15 Behold, the Lote-tree was shrouded (in mystery unspeakable!) 16 The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold. 17 Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). 18 (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, 19 And Manat (another idol of the pagan Arabs), the other third? 20 Is it for you the males and for Him the females? 21 That is indeed an unfair division! 22 These [allegedly divine beings] are nothing but empty names which you have invented - you and your forefathers - [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. They [who worship them] follow nothing but surmise and their own wishful thinking - although right guidance has now indeed come unto them from their Sustainer. 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 But to Allah belongs the last (Hereafter) and the first (the world). 25
