The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the star when it goes down. 1 Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived; 2 nor does he speak out of his desire. 3 It is but a revelation revealed. 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 Of might, he (Gabriel) stood firm 6 And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. 7 Then the Spectacle became closer, and came down in full view. 8 he was but two bows' length or even nearer, 9 When He revealed to His votary what He revealed. 10 His (Muhammad's) heart did not lie to him about what his eyes had seen. 11 What! So do you dispute with him regarding what he saw? 12 He saw Him indeed another time 13 by the lote-tree at the farthest boundary, 14 Near it is the Garden of Abode. 15 When that which shroudeth did enshroud the lote-tree, 16 His eye did not waver, nor did it stray, 17 Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). 18 Have you really considered al-Lat and al-"Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 Do sons belong to you and daughters to God? 21 that, lo and behold, is an unfair division! 22 These are only names which you and your fathers have invented. No authority was sent down by God for them. They only follow conjecture and wish-fulfilment, even though guidance had come to them already from their Lord. 23 Shall man have whatever he craves? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
