The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Star when it plunges, 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he misguided, 2 And he does not say anything by his own desire. 3 It is but a revelation revealed. 4 Taught to him by one intense in strength - 5 and endowed with wisdom; who in time manifested himself; 6 appearing in the horizon's loftiest part, 7 Then he drew near, then he bowed 8 until he was but two bow-lengths away, or even nearer. 9 Then he revealed to Allah's servant whatever he had to reveal. 10 The heart lied not in that which he saw. 11 Will ye therefore dispute with him concerning that which he hath seen? 12 And verily he saw him yet another time 13 At the farthest lote-tree; 14 Near which is the garden, the place to be resorted to. 15 when there covered the Lote-Tree that which covered; 16 (Muhammad's) eyes did not deceive him, nor did they lead him to falsehood. 17 Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). 18 So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? 19 And Manat (another idol of the pagan Arabs), the other third? 20 What! for you the males and for Him the females! 21 That indeed were an unfair division! 22 These [allegedly divine beings] are nothing but empty names which you have invented - you and your forefathers - [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. They [who worship them] follow nothing but surmise and their own wishful thinking - although right guidance has now indeed come unto them from their Sustainer. 23 Or shall man have what he coveteth? 24 To Allah belongs the Eternal life and the first life. 25
