The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the star when it plunges, 1 Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled. 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is but a divine revelation, which is revealed to him. 4 something that a very powerful one has imparted to him, 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. 7 Thereafter he drew nigh, then he let himself down. 8 And was at a distance of two bows' length or (even) nearer, 9 And He revealed to His servant what He revealed. 10 The [servant's] heart did not give the lie to what he saw: 11 Will you then argue with him about what he saw? 12 He saw Him indeed another time 13 to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) 14 Close to which is the Garden of Tranquility, 15 with the lote-tree veiled in a veil of nameless splendour 16 The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit. 17 Verily he saw one of the greater revelations of his Lord. 18 (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, 19 And Manat the other third? 20 Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? 21 That indeed were an unfair division! 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them. 23 Is the human to have whatever he fancies? 24 But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong. 25
