The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the star when it plunges, 1 Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred, 2 And he speaketh not of his own desire. 3 It is naught but revelation that is revealed, 4 He has been taught (this Quran) by one mighty in power [Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 5 by the great mighty one (Gabriel), 6 being on the higher horizon, 7 Then he [Jibrael (Gabriel)] approached and came closer, 8 until he was as close to him as the distance of two bows, or even less. 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. 11 What! do you then dispute with him as to what he saw? 12 And verily he saw him yet another time 13 By the Lote-tree beyond which none can pass, 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 When the tree was covered with a covering, 16 His sight did not waver nor was it unduly bold. 17 For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest! 18 So did you observe the idols Lat and Uzza? 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 That, then, is an unjust division. 22 They are but names, named by you and your fathers. Allah has not sent down any authority for them. They follow conjecture and their soul's desire, eventhough the guidance of their Lord has come to them. 23 Does man imagine that it is his due to have all that he might wish for, 24 Allah's is the last and the first. 25
