The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the star when it sets: 1 Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. 2 He does not speak out of his own desires. 3 It is not but a revelation revealed, 4 He was taught by one Mighty in Power, 5 Endued with Wisdom: for he appeared (in stately form); 6 being on the higher horizon. 7 Then he drew near and hung above suspended, 8 So the distance between the Spectacle and the beloved was only two arms' length, or even less. The Heavenly Journey of Prophet Mohammed - peace and blessings be upon him - was with body and soul. 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 The heart [of the Prophet] did not misconstrue what he saw. 11 What! do you then dispute with him as to what he saw? 12 Indeed he saw him a second time, 13 Near Sidrat-ul-Muntaha [lote-tree of the utmost boundary (beyond which none can pass)], 14 near which is the Garden of Abode. 15 When that which covers covered the lote-tree; 16 (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong! 17 Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza, 19 And Manat (another idol of the pagan Arabs), the other third? 20 What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female? 21 Then that is surely a very unjust distribution! 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath sent down no authority. They follow but their fancy, and that which pleaseth their souls; whereas assuredly there hath come unto them from their Lord the guidance. 23 Can ever man get what he desires? 24 Rather, to Allah belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 25
