Observedest thou him who turned away? 33 And gave a little, then was grudging? 34 Is with him knowledge of the unseen so that he seeth? 35 Nay, is he not acquainted with what is in the Books of Moses- 36 and of Abraham, who lived up to the trust? 37 Certainly no one will bear the responsibility of the sins of another, 38 and that everyone shall have in his account only that which he worked for, 39 And that his endeavour shall be presently observed. 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 that all things in the end shall return to God; 42 And that He it is Who makes (men) laugh and makes (them) weep; 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 And that He (Allah) creates the pairs, male and female, 45 from a drop of sperm when it was emitted, 46 And that only upon Him is the next revival? 47 and that it is He who gives wealth and riches, 48 and that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius, 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 And destroyed the tribe of Thamud, not sparing anyone? 51 And the people of Nuh (Noah) aforetime, verily, they were more unjust and more rebellious and transgressing [in disobeying Allah and His Messenger Nuh (Noah)]. 52 And the overthrown cities did He overthrow, 53 Then covered them with that which covered them. 54 About which of the bounties of your Lord can they persistently dispute? 55 This is a Warner, of the (series of) Warners of old! 56 The imminent Hour has drawn near, 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 Are you astonished at this news, 59 Why do you laugh rather than weep? 60 Will you occupy yourselves simply in merriment? 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
