So did you observe him who turned away? 33 who at first gave a little, then later held back? 34 What! Has he knowledge of the Unseen so that he can see? 35 Or, has he not been told of that which is in the Scrolls of Moses 36 And Abraham who paid his debt: 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 and that man shall have nothing but what he has striven for, 39 That (the fruit of) his striving will soon come in sight: 40 then, he shall be recompensed for it in full repayment 41 and that the final return is to your Lord, 42 And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 And that He created pairs, the male and the female 45 From a sperm-drop when it is emitted 46 and that [therefore] it is within His power to bring about a second life; 47 That it is He who makes you rich and contented; 48 And that He it is Who is the Lord of Sirius; 49 And that He did destroy the Ad of old 50 and Thamud tribes, 51 And the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing. 52 And the overthrown cities did He overthrow, 53 so that there came upon them that which came. 54 So O listener! Which favour of your Lord will you doubt? 55 This [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners. 56 The Day of Resurrection draws near, 57 and none but Allah can avert it. 58 Then at this statement do you wonder? 59 Why do you laugh rather than weep? 60 while you are thoughtless? 61 But fall ye down in prostration to Allah, and adore (Him)! ۩ 62
