Al-Najm 3 of 3
Observedest thou him who turned away? 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Has he knowledge of the unseen, so that he sees? 35 Or, has he not been informed of what is in the scriptures of Musa? 36 And of Ibrahim (Abraham) who fulfilled (or conveyed) all that (what Allah ordered him to do or convey), 37 that no soul shall bear the burden of another; 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 And that his effort will soon be scrutinised? 40 Then he will be fully repaid for it? 41 And that to your Lord (Allah) is the End (Return of everything). 42 And that He it is who maketh laugh, and maketh weep, 43 and that He it is Who causes death and grants life, 44 and that it is He who created pairs, the male and the female, 45 From the small seed when it is adapted 46 And that [incumbent] upon Him is the next creation 47 And that it is He Who has given wealth and contentment? 48 and that He is the Lord of (the star) Sirius, 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 And that Thamud! He left not. 51 and the people of Noah before -- certainly they did exceeding evil, and were insolent 52 And He overthrew the Cities of the Plain, 53 So that there covered them that which did cover. 54 On which then of your Lord's signs do you cast doubt? 55 He who warns you is one of the warners of old. 56 The (Judgment) ever approaching draws nigh: 57 and none but Allah can avert it. 58 Do you then find these tidings strange? 59 And you laugh at it and weep not, 60 while you make merry? 61 So prostrate yourselves before Allah and worship. ۩ 62

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
