Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 Who gives but little, and is niggardly? 34 Does he have knowledge of the hidden, so he can foresee? 35 Or, has he not been informed of what is in the scriptures of Musa? 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his trust? -- 37 Namely, that no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another; 38 and that man shall have only that for which he strives; 39 And that his striving shall soon be seen- 40 Then he will be fully repaid for it? 41 And that the end is only towards your Lord? 42 And that it is He Who made (you) laugh and made (you) cry? 43 And that He it is Who causes death and gives life- 44 It is He who has created spouses, male and female, 45 From the small seed when it is adapted 46 That He hath promised a Second Creation (Raising of the Dead); 47 And that it is He (Allah) Who gives much or a little (or gives wealth and contentment), 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius. 49 and that He destroyed Ad, the ancient, 50 And Thamud - and He did not spare [them] - 51 and that He it is Who destroyed the people of Noah before for they were much given to iniquity and transgression. 52 And the overthrown cities did He overthrow, 53 So that there covered them that which did cover. 54 Then which of the gifts of thy Lord, (O man,) wilt thou dispute about? 55 This is a warner, of the warners of old. 56 that [Last Hour] which is so near draws ever nearer, 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 Do you then wonder at this recital (the Quran)? 59 Or do you laugh, and do you not weep 60 Indulging in pleasantries? 61 So bow yourselves before God, and serve Him! ۩ 62
