So did you observe him who turned away? 33 And he gave a little, then refrained? 34 Hath he knowledge of the Unseen so that he seeth? 35 Or, has he not been told of that which is in the Scrolls of Moses 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his trust? -- 37 That no soul laden bears the load of another, 38 And that for man shall be naught save that wherefor he endeavoureth. 39 And that his effort is going to be seen - 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 To your Lord will all things eventually return. 42 It is He who causes laughter and weeping. 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 and that it is He who created pairs, the male and the female, 45 From seed when it is emitted. 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 And that it is He Who has given wealth and contentment? 48 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); 49 And that it is He (Allah) Who destroyed the former 'Ad (people), 50 and Thamood, and He did not spare them, 51 And also the people of Nuh aforetime. Verily they were even greater wrong-doers and more contumacious. 52 and the Subverted City He also overthrew, 53 so that there came upon them that which came. 54 About which of the bounties of your Lord can they persistently dispute? 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 that [Last Hour] which is so near draws ever nearer, 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 Do you marvel then at this discourse (the Koran)? 59 And keep laughing and do not weep, 60 Will you occupy yourselves simply in merriment? 61 So prostrate yourselves before Allah and worship. ۩ 62
True are the words of God the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Stars (Al-Najm). Sent down in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
