Al-Najm 3 of 3
Seest thou one who turns back, 33 who gave a little, and then stopped? 34 Has he knowledge of the unseen, so that he sees? 35 Did not the news reach him, of that which is mentioned in the Books of Moosa? 36 And of Ibrahim, who was most obedient? 37 that no soul shall bear the burden of another; 38 and that nought shall be accounted unto man but what he is striving for; 39 and that his labouring shall surely be seen, 40 whereupon he shall be requited for it with the fullest requital; 41 And that thy Lord, He is the goal; 42 And that He it is Who makes (men) laugh and makes (them) weep; 43 And that He it is Who giveth death and giveth life; 44 and He it is Who created the two kinds, the male and the female, 45 of a sperm-drop, when it was cast forth, 46 And that only upon Him is the next revival? 47 And that He it is Who enriches and gives to hold; 48 And that He only is the Lord of the star Sirius? 49 That it was He who destroyed the 'Ad of old, 50 And Thamud (people). He spared none of them. 51 as well as the people of Noah before them - [since,] verily, they all had been most willful in their evildoing and most overweening 52 He plunged the villages 53 Then covered them with that which covered them. 54 So O listener! Which favour of your Lord will you doubt? 55 This is a warner, of the warners of old. 56 The Day of Resurrection draws near, 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 Do you marvel then at this discourse (the Koran)? 59 Will you laugh at it rather than weep? 60 while you are thoughtless? 61 Bow instead in adoration before God and worship Him. ۩ 62

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
