HAST THOU, then, ever considered him who turns away [from remembering Us, and cares for no more than the life of this world,] 33 And gave little, and then stopped? 34 Does he possess the knowledge of the unseen, thus, he sees (all things)? 35 Has he not been informed of what is in the Scrolls of Moses, 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his trust? -- 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 And that his deeds will be seen, 40 And afterward he will be repaid for it with fullest payment; 41 and that the final end is unto thy Lord, 42 That it is He Who granteth Laughter and Tears; 43 and that He it is Who causes death and grants life, 44 and that He Himself created the two kinds, male and female, 45 From a drop of liquid, when it is added? 46 And that [incumbent] upon Him is the next creation 47 And that He it is Who enricheth and contenteth; 48 And that He only is the Lord of the star Sirius? 49 And that it is He (Allah) Who destroyed the former 'Ad (people), 50 And destroyed the tribe of Thamud, not sparing anyone? 51 and the people of Noah before -- certainly they did exceeding evil, and were insolent 52 And He brought perdition upon the subverted cities 53 so that there came upon them that which came. 54 On which then of your Lord's signs do you cast doubt? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The near event draws nigh. 57 No one besides God can rescue a soul from hardship. 58 Does this statement seem strange to them 59 Or do you laugh, and do you not weep 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 Rather, prostrate to Allah and worship Him. ۩ 62
