Have you then seen him who turns his back? 33 and gives a little, and then grudgingly? 34 Does he have knowledge of the hidden, so he can foresee? 35 Has he not been made acquainted with what was written in the scriptures of Moses? 36 And with Abraham who kept his word: 37 Certainly no one will bear the responsibility of the sins of another, 38 That a man receives but only that for which he strives; 39 And that his effort will soon be scrutinised? 40 Then will he be rewarded with a reward complete; 41 That to thy Lord is the final Goal; 42 And that it is He (Allah) Who makes (whom He wills) laugh, and makes (whom He wills) weep; 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 And that He creates the two mates - the male and female - 45 from an ejected drop of sperm; 46 and on Him depends the life hereafter. 47 And that it is He (Allah) Who gives much or a little (or gives wealth and contentment), 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius, 49 that He it is Who destroyed the ancient 'Ad, 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace [of them,] 51 And before them, the people of Noah, for that they were (all) most unjust and most insolent transgressors, 52 just as He thrust into perdition those cities that were overthrown 53 So there covered them that which covered. 54 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 55 This is a warner from the warners of ancient times. 56 The Day of Resurrection draws near, 57 There shall be none besides Allah to remove it. 58 Marvel ye then at this statement, 59 And you laugh and do not weep 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 Rather prostrate yourselves before Allah and serve Him. ۩ 62
