Have you [Prophet] considered the man who turned away, 33 And gives a little and (then) withholds. 34 What! Has he knowledge of the Unseen so that he can see? 35 Or has he never yet been told of what was [said] in the revelations of Moses, 36 And Abraham who paid his debt: 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad). 39 And that his effort will be seen. 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 and that with thy Sustainer is the beginning and the end [of all that exists]; 42 and that it is He alone who causes [you] to laugh and to weep; 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 It is He who has created spouses, male and female, 45 From a sperm-drop when it is emitted 46 And that only upon Him is the next revival? 47 and that it is He who gives riches and causes to hoard, 48 And that it is He Who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 that it was He that destroyed ancient Aad 50 Thamud, 51 And also the people of Nuh aforetime. Verily they were even greater wrong-doers and more contumacious. 52 and the Subverted City He also overthrew, 53 So that (ruins unknown) have covered them up. 54 Then which of thy Lord's bounties disputest thou? 55 This is a Warner, of the (series of) Warners of old! 56 The approaching event has come near. 57 None, except Allah, can avert it. 58 Do you marvel then at this discourse (the Koran)? 59 And laugh and not weep? 60 while you make merry? 61 Therefore prostrate for Allah, and worship Him.
