The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term. 3 And there have come to them such tidings as contain a deterrent -- 4 far-reaching wisdom [was held out to them]: but [since] all warnings have been of no avail, 5 So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding, 6 They will come out from the graves with eyes lowered, as if they were spread locusts. 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ The folk of Noah denied before them, yea, they denied Our slave and said: A madman; and he was repulsed. 9 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “I am overpowered, therefore avenge me.” 10 And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 and caused the earth to gush with springs, so that the waters met for a predestined matter. 12 And We bore Noah on the vessel built of planks and nails, 13 which floated on the water before Our very eyes. The flood was a recompense for the deeds of the disbelievers. 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 And We sent against them a howling wind in a Day of continuous of ill fortune 19 It swept people away as if they were trunks of uprooted palm trees. 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22

Notes and Instructions
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
