The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 running (with their necks extended) to the Caller. The unbelievers will say: 'This is indeed a harsh Day' 8 ۞ (Long) before them the nation of Noah belied. They belied Our worshiper saying: 'Mad' and he was reprimanded. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 And We bore Noah on the vessel built of planks and nails, 13 floated on under Our eyes: a vindication of him who had been rejected. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 The people of `Ad rejected Our guidance. How terrible was My torment and the result (of their disregard) of My warning. 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 22
