The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, 4 which are full of wisdom; but the warnings do not help. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. 8 ۞ There belied before them the people of Nuh. So they belied Our bondman and said: a madman; and moreover he was reproven. 9 Therefore he called upon his Lord: I am overcome, come Thou then to help. 10 And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And caused springs to gush out from the earth, so that the two waters met totalling a quantity that had been destined. 12 And We bore him on that which was made of planks and nails 13 which sailed on under Our supervision: a reward for him who had been shown ingratitude. 14 And indeed, We have caused such [floating vessels] to remain forever a sign [of Our grace unto man]: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 15 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 TO THE TRUTH gave the lie [the tribe of] Ad: and how severe was the suffering which I inflicted when My warnings were disregarded! 18 Verily, We sent against them a furious wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity. 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 for, how severe is the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded! 21 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran: is there anyone who would receive admonition? 22
