The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain. 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. 3 Surely there came to them narratives (of the ancient nations) that should suffice to deter (them from transgression), 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 So turn away from them, (O Prophet). On the Day when a caller shall call them to a thing most terrible, 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 running (with their necks extended) to the Caller. The unbelievers will say: 'This is indeed a harsh Day' 8 ۞ The folk of Noah denied before them, yea, they denied Our slave and said: A madman; and he was repulsed. 9 So he cried unto his Lord, saying: I am vanquished, so give help. 10 Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 She floats under our eyes (and care): a recompense to one who had been rejected (with scorn)! 14 And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 21 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 22
