The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain. 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". 8 ۞ There belied before them the people of Nuh. So they belied Our bondman and said: a madman; and moreover he was reproven. 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 And verily We left it as a token; but is there any that remembereth? 15 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 16 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 17 'Ad also gave the lie (to Hud). So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 and snatched people up as though they were stumps of uprooted palmtrees. 20 So how dreadful have been My torment and My warning. 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
