The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic." 2 And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided! 3 And indeed the news which had a lot of deterrence, came to them. 4 Mature wisdom;- but (the preaching of) Warners profits them not. 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter – 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied [the truth] before them. They belied Our messenger saying, "He is mad!" He was rebuffed, 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre: 13 that ran on under Our Eyes, a recompense for him because he had been disbelieved. 14 And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember? 15 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 We let loose against them a violent roaring wind on a day of ill omen, continuous, 19 Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms. 20 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 21 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished! 22
