The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter – 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ Before them the people of Nuh rejected, so they rejected Our servant and called (him) mad, and he was driven away. 9 So he cried unto his Lord, saying: I am vanquished, so give help. 10 Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. 11 And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. 12 And We bore him on that which was made of planks and nails 13 that ran on under Our Eyes, a recompense for him because he had been disbelieved. 14 We made (the story of Noah) as evidence of the Truth. However, is there anyone who would take heed? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 17 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. 18 Behold, We let loose upon them a raging storm wind on a day of bitter misfortune: 19 Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms. 20 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
